About me: my name is Marika and I was born in Sicily. I have lived in the UK since 2012 and have a long experience of teaching the Italian language. Above all I hold my lessons in Bristol and Stroud area. I have two University degrees: one in Italian Culture and Language and other in History and Philosophy. I also have a certification for Teaching Italian to foreigners.

When teaching adults my main purpose is to motivate my students by creating lessons that are of interest to them. I  always  take into consideration their points of view, their suggestions, their doubts… as the starting point on which to build the contents of my lessons as most of the textbooks are often too generic. For this reason I tend to prepare and use my own teaching materials in order to guarantee success.

In the past I lived between the North and the South of Italy for 35 years which has give me a wide knowledge of many different places, towns and villages as well as a variety of different culture, traditions, culinary recipes… and that is why with this knowledge I can travel all around Italy and plan full immersions trips in different parts of Italy.

I taught for about 8 years at Stroud College, four years at the College in Swindon and for two years at the English Military Academy in Swindon. I left my previous jobs to dedicate myself entirely to teaching the Italian language to adults. I continue to work as an Italian teacher at Bristol of Council, where in addition to Italian courses I organize courses on Italian art, Italian history, Opera, Italian culture, Italian women and the wonders of Italy

In the last few years I have been specializing in CILS (Exam board to get an Italian passport).
