About me
My name is Marika. I was born in Sicily, moved to the UK in 2012, and I teach Italian to adults in Bristol, in the Stroud area and online.
I hold two university degrees — Italian Culture and Language, and History and Philosophy — plus a certification in teaching Italian to foreigners. I taught for eight years at Stroud College, four years at a college in Swindon and two years at the English Military Academy, and I still run Italian language and culture courses for Bristol City Council. In recent years I have specialised in CILS B1, one of the certificates accepted for Italian citizenship and an Italian passport.
I build every lesson around the student — their interests, their questions, their pace — using my own materials rather than generic textbooks, and I have written a book of short stories for beginners. Having lived all over Italy for 35 years, I plan the full immersion trips myself.
